Former Hawkeye Brad Banks Breaks Barnstormers RecordPosted: April 2, 2011
Former Hawkeye quarterback Brad Banks has only played three games in the Arena Football League, but already he’s looking like his old, playmaking self.
Banks threw for 383 yards and a set an Iowa Barnstormers record with 10 touchdown passes Friday night against the San Jose SaberCats. The former Heisman Trophy runner-up also ran for a score to seal a 76-69 victory.
The Barnstormers are off to a 2-1 start thanks to the strong play of the former Hawkeye signal caller. He’s accounted for all 22 of Iowa’s touchdowns (19 passing, three rushing) and ranks third in the league in rushing (28.7 YPG) and total offense (332 YPG).
Banks and the Barnstormers are back in action on April 9 against the Kansas City Command.
